Graham Shaw and Sincere Serenaders
Graham Shaw and the Sincere Serenaders were one of the top bands in Winnipeg in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Recognized as a powerhouse vocalist, Graham landed a solo recording deal in 1980 with Capitol Records. Shortly afterward, his first hit single "Can I Come Near" made the Top-10 across the Canada. The band featured Graham on lead vocals, guitar and keyboards, Danny Casavant and later Paul O’Neill on guitar, Ilena Zaremba and Susan Lethbridge on backing vocals, Gary Stefaniuk on bass and Gord Osland on drums. Graham moved to Toronto and built a successful career as a composer for film, television and advertising. Many of his melodies are familiar to Canadians as themes for CBC shows such as Venture, Midday and Theodore Tugboat. All original members of the Sincere Serenaders are back and look forward to the Homecoming 2010 Reunion Show.
Originally from Flin Flon, Jennifer Hanson grew up in a large musical family and took her talents to Winnipeg in the late 80’s, performing with some of the finest musicians in the city, including Ron Paley who gave Jennifer her first gig and later her band Jenerator, a popular cover band. Most Winnipeggers will remember her as the voice of the Winnipeg Jets, singing the national anthems for countless hockey games including the Jets’ emotional final home game. Jennifer effortlessly transitioned from rock to jazz, winning the 1999 Prairie Music Award for best jazz album with “Something Cool”. Her critically acclaimed 2005 CD “How the Night People Play” was produced by none other than Canadian music luminary and fellow former Winnipegger, Graham Shaw. She now resides in Atlanta, Georgia and performs throughout the Southeastern U.S. as well as touring Canada and Europe. She is thrilled to be performing back at home, reuniting with her talented sisters for this amazing Manitoba Homecoming performance.
