Casinos of Winnipeg Bag Policy

On Monday, February 2, 2026, the Casinos of Winnipeg are implementing a guest bag policy at casino entrances to improve overall casino safety and security. A bag policy is a best practice security measure used at many Canadian casinos, arenas, and entertainment venues.

 

FAQs

  1. What is the new bag policy?
    For the safety of our casino guests and employees, bag sizes are restricted to a maximum size of 14”x14”x6” or smaller. All bags, regardless of size, may still be subject to search prior to admittance to Casinos of Winnipeg.
  2. What if I require a larger bag for medical purposes?
    Exceptions will be considered for medically necessary items, but these bags are also subject to a security search.
  3. Why is Casinos of Winnipeg updating their bag policy?
    The bag policy will improve safety for guests and staff by allowing security guards to spend less time checking bags for prohibited and dangerous items, and more time focused on overall casino security.
  4. What items are prohibited at Casinos of Winnipeg?
    To encourage safety and enjoyment at Casinos of Winnipeg, the following items are not permitted to be brought into the casinos:
    • Weapons
    • Illegal substances
    • Drug paraphernalia (bongs, pipes)
    • Sharp objects (unless secured for medical purposes)
    • Food/beverages
    • Alcohol
    • Any other item that management deems to negatively impact customer experience.
  5. What happens to prohibited items guests bring to the casino?
    Guests will be asked to dispose of items, return items to their vehicle, or items may be confiscated and/or reported to the Winnipeg Police Service.
  6. Can I store an oversized bag in the casino coat check?
    Are there lockers? Casinos of Winnipeg do not allow guests’ bags to be stored in coat check. There are no lockers available for guest use at either casino.
  7. If my bag fits size restrictions, why do you need to search it?
    All bags are subject to search upon entry. It is security’s responsibility to search any bag they deem necessary to ensure prohibited items are not being brought into the casino.
  8. What if I refuse to have my bag searched?
    Declining a bag search may lead to being refused entry to the casino.
  9. I am a regular casino guest; will my purse still need to be searched?
    Security officers at casino entrances will follow the new size guidelines for all guests and deny entry to anyone with an oversized bag. They will also determine which smaller bags are to be searched. This applies to regular guests and Club Card members.
  10. I just need to go in the casino for a few minutes to get something from my wife/husband. Can I take my bag in or leave it at the security podium for 5 minutes?
    No. You cannot take an oversized bag in the casino and bags cannot be left unattended.
  11. Can I speak with a manager if I have a concern about the bag policy?
